TAKE THAT, ADOLF! The Fighting Comic Books of The Second World War
Our Highest Recommendation. By Mark Fertig. From Superman, Wonder Woman and Daredevil to propaganda and racism, Take That, Adolf! offers a long, highly detailed look at how comics embraced the war, sold zillions to kids as well as soldiers, and who did it all, including rare female creators. And Wonder Woman wasn't the only heroine to punch her way into the hearts of fans. The early (and sexier) Black Cat, The Woman in Red, Miss America, Miss Victory...they are each explored here also. Limited, 1000! Second Printing. Our Highest Recommendation. By Daniel Zimmer. Originally released in late-2015 in a limited edition of only 1000 copies, The Art of Dean Cornwell sold out very quickly. If you missed out on the first printing, you may have seen them selling for big bucks in the after-market. After receiving numerous requests for a reprint, this is the result. STAR HAWKS Volume 1 1977-1978
Highly Recommended. By Ron Goulart. Art by Gil Kane. The classic 1970s science fiction newspaper strip, the only comic strip to be produced in a two-tier format, thereby greatly expanding how Kane could lay out each installment. Each strip is on its own page so readers can relish Kane's incredible achievement. Nearly 40 years after its debut, Star Hawks still looks fresh and exciting. Library of American Comics #10. Sept 1933 to Oct 1934. By Norman Marsh. Considered the first comic book with original material ever produced, 1933's "Detective Dan, Secret Op. 48" was a landmark. It only lasted one issue before morphing into the Dan Dunn newspaper strip. A blatant copy of Chester Gould's Dick Tracy (Norman Marsh had been an art assistant to Gould), Dan Dunn was a rough and tumble Secret Service agent who exacted violent retribution on any criminal who dared cross his path. DEADMAN KELLEY JONES Gallery Edition
Artwork from Deadman: Love After Death #1-2 and Deadman: Exorcism #1-2. Recommended. By Mike Baron. The unmistakable art of Kelley Jones on two gothic thrillers with surprisingly adult themes and some nudity! This Smythe-sewn hardcover edition is sourced from the original boards and showcases the boldly dramatic line art that established Jones' creative style prior to his work on Batman and other DC characters. Written by Mike Baron and first published in 1989 and 1992, starring the same Deadman that Carmine Infantino and Neal Adams first made famous. Mature Readers

Variety for this week: Sunstone is a handsome, well drawn graphic novel of the humorous but sexually serious adventures of two women and their fetish adventures of discovery with one another. It is a New York Times and Amazon #1 bestseller in its previous incarnation of three trade paperbacks.

Next up is Born Wild in Berlin, a cutting-edge erotic display of fetish subjects, posed nude tableaux, costumes, nasty girls and boys, all with a hard edge from the great German metropolis.

Then we have three new DVDs, all collecting vintage films: Beyond Shame, Hot Flashes, and a double-up, Peekarama with "Boiling Desires" and "Love Champions."

A new hurt book, in very short supply, is Welcome to Fabulous L.A. Girls.

And last, here are four DVDs that I’m reducing in price to make room for new titles:

News & Notes

New PS Artbooks Sale
We’d thought our chance to buy these was over, but we just got a brand new list of titles. A great many are slipcased editions that we’ve never handled before, including Sheena, Planet Comics, Adventures in the Unknown, Forbidden Worlds, Capt. Flash, Capt. Science, Captain Video, Out of the Night, Rulah, Strange Fantasy, Web of Evil, and Weird Mysteries.

The last three Planets, until now still full price, are now going on sale. So is Web of Evil, Weird Tales of the Future, Journey Into Fear and others. The shipment isn’t here yet, but we’ve already dropped prices on any titles we had still on hand at full price. You can do a search on PSSALE and then make sure to click on “Newest” to see the price-changed titles and latest new arrivals.

There are still plenty of regular price titles and more coming in, so PS isn’t going anywhere. they just have excess inventory to clear out. Many of these titles are NOT in large supply—sometimes we bought every copy our source had and wished for more. So act accordingly, some will sell out quickly.

May 5th: Free Comic Book Day
Beginning on May 1st, we’ll be offering free titles again this year. The offerings from our distributor were underwhelming, unless we were some kind of Gold Star accounts, which we are not. So we made up our own offerings from warehouse finds: 3 issues of The First Kingdom by Jack Katz, and three original issues of Elfquest by Richard and Wendy Pini, all from the 1980s; a Zorro booklet, and one issue of Twin Earths by Alden McWilliams. This year we’re giving out two with any order, 3 with orders over $25 and 5 with orders over $50—while supply lasts, of course.

2017 Calendars
We’ve been pushing the last ones out at $3.99, but we still have a handful left if you act right away: Cthulhu, Construction Chicks, Phantasmagoric, Wings of an Angel, Wonder Woman, Boris Vallejo (really!), Alice in Wonderland, Hot Rides, Marilyn and a few more.
